Coffee growers want rot in CIC removed
The National, Tuesday June 10th, 2014
IT is very bad that the Coffee Industry Corporation (CIC) is abusing its function, and yet the government is not taking appropriate actions.
In addition to the millions of grants to fund CIC’s operations, it is costing the government – at the expense of coffee growers and taxpayers – a substantive amount of money to engage Greg Manda Lawyers and RLP Chartered Accounts to investigate the mismanagement of CIC.
It is very insulting to coffee growers that the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, which they trust, failed to execute what was recommended to them six months ago.
PNG coffee growers are eager to know what are the deliberations for the recommendations on the gross financial misuse, the lack of prudent financial management and corporate governance as well as why the designated officer ignored financial periodic reporting requirements.
How long should coffee growers have to wait for the CIC to be refined and restored to serve its true purpose?
All coffee growers must be mindful that you have survived these constraints created by educated fools in the office, but now I the time to take corrective measures.
On behalf of coffee growers of PNG, I assure John Inerehu that we will pledge our support to air our views as we are the core stakeholder of the industry.
