College calling for support

A COLLEGE that has been helping unemployed youths and high school drop-outs for the last 20 years is calling out for recognition after receiving none.
Hohola Community College has trained and sent many young people into the workforce.
However, college director, Susuve Sevesoa said no recognition has been given, especially in terms of sponsorship.
Hohola Community College is located within the United Church ground.
The courses offered are Business, Integral Human Development and Early Childhood Teacher Training and it runs for six weeks.
The fee for each course is K600 except for Early Childhood Teacher Training that is K300.
The college has been operating after being fully registered by National Training Council in 2000.
About 112 students graduated last year and it was the biggest number in the school’s history.
He appealed to the MPs to look into supporting youths and school leavers with sponsorships.
“Prime Minister James Marape is coming out very openly to talk about school fee now and so the MPs should pick it up from there to support young people as well.
“School leavers should be noticed and supported as well. I would really appreciate if Moresby North-West MP, Mekere Morauta comes in and help sponsor school leavers.”
