College holds first quiz competition

Education

THE Kopkop College in Port Moresby held its first inter-school math and science quiz competition last week.
The competition was between St Paul’s Primary, Tokorara Secondary and Kopkop. The categories were lower division (grades 7 and 8), middle division (grades 9 and 10), and upper division (grades 11 and 12). KopKop College won all three divisions.
The executive director of Kopkop College, Maria Kopkop, challenged students to be creative and positive in all they do.
“A positive learning attitude will continue to broaden your mind into scientific pathways working scientifically through projects and investigation,” said Kopkop.
Kiriwina-Goodenough MP Douglas Tomuriesa challenged students to work hard and aim high.
“Your parents will not be there for you always. You have to work hard, aim high, and develop a sharp mind”, Tomuriesa said.
Being the major sponsor of the competition, the forestry minister donated K3000 as initial funding to host the event and presented another K5000 to Kopkop College after his speech.
The chairman of the competition, Kopkop maths Jonathan Kokomani, said the quiz was first introduced in 2016.
