College violence

Letters

THE Madang Teachers’ College governing council’s disciplinary committee should insist that the college administration provides a report into the fighting between students recently.
The laws that govern education and teachers’ institutions prohibit any form of fighting and violence.
The students have held a cultural peace ceremony.
The college administration has received disciplinary reports on some of the key perpetrators and some of them are in their final year and are due to graduate next month.
The violence resulted in damage to personal and college properties like dormitory and fence, and some students were assaulted and got hurt. The violence also affected the teaching programme and as a result time and resources were lost.
Those who were involved in the fighting should be punished to set an example and stop further violence.
