Colleague who hails from across the Solomon Sea in Bougainville is wondering whether he will now need a work permit and visa to continue working in Port Moresby. Worse, will he be referred to as an expat? Man, it so hard to digest all at once.
Night lights
When you drive past the so-much-talked-about multi-million kina Gordon Market at night, you will see all the lights in full glare. It means they are on 24/7. Is it necessary? If it is to discourage hooligans from entering, then what’s the use of the security guards?

Again, Christmas celebrations organised by City Hall at Five-Mile in Port Moresby has to be stopped because there were too many complaints of petty crimes. No joy there.
Sydney flights
Air Niugini flights to Sydney this week have not been affected by the impact of thick smoke around the airport. Some international flights for other airlines had to be diverted to Brisbane because of the problem cause by the fires.
No bridge
Villagers who forcibly “impounded” 10 vehicles belonging to a company have removed all road links to the villages to stop police from retrieving the vehicles. It means someone has to build new bridges to bring the vehicles back.
Hall rules
City Fathers are placing restrictions on access into the City Hall Annex opened yesterday: “Please keep your supporters and those who just want to have a look at the place away from the building so we have control over the types of people that come to the building.”
Smart kid
This is nine-year-old Laurent Simons of Belgium who was set to be the world’s youngest university graduate, but the university won’t let him graduate this year. Simons was on course to be world’s youngest ever Bachelor of Engineering awardee.
