Road block
The construction of roads connecting LLGs in the provinces, while perfectly reasonable, will need to be linked (no pun intended) to the economic and practical needs. Pomio district CEO Peter Peniat made that comment last week after receiving requests to build roads. He said the K10 million DSIP funding just wasn’t enough to cover every need. For the people enduring the lack of this service, the answer apparently, is to have a viable agricultural industry – cocoa, palm oil, logging etc … What about tourism? Pomio is the largest district in East New Britain and has potential in this regard. It’s about time the ENB administration built a road from Kokopo to Palmalmal.
Onus still on parents
While it is commendable that some provincial governments are willing to cover parents in 2020. Let’s not forget the primary responsibility for child’s education is the parents’. So to parents: plan better, cut out excesses, save money, earn money and put your children first at all times. Why? Because you had them.
Remote access
A colleague wanted to purchase a viewing plan for his Play Box in order to watch test cricket recently. He called the Digicel call centre stating that he had received a text offering a discount on one of the viewing options. He was told to provide his box number and to have the correct number of credits (K70) on his phone. Not having either he said he would look for the number and also buy credits and call back later. Imagine his surprise when he put in the credits and a little while later called to give the operator his box number and he was told the credits had already deducted remotely. He didn’t even give the box number. Does this sound right?
Weak impeachment
US President Donald Trump will see through his impeachment for of two reasons: the charges levelled against him by Democrats are weak tea and Republicans, who control the senate, will vote against it. Trump has been constantly hounded by the sorest of losers (his political opponents) since being elected in 2016 and this, more than anything, is another example of the lengths that some will go to remove the man.
