Saying no to K50,000
The announced grand winner of the Bemobile promotion which gave away some K100,000 in prizes this month was in fact the second pick. The initial winner, a Popondetta-based expatriate, actually refused to accept that he had won and even brushed it off as a prank call. Business must be pretty darn good in Oro to turn down K50,000 like that.
At least it “snowed”
Just a quick word on that hail storm incident that occurred in Hagen Central last week. We know it will cause hardships for the people of Kunjika village but gosh it must have been kind of exciting to see it “snowing” on Christmas Day.
Governor with a message
It’s encouraging to see NCD Governor Powes Parkop working with provinces and communities outside of Port Moresby to promote peace and good will. The good governor was in Mendi over the weekend for the Hope Cup and other activities. The Hope Cup is a rugby league match between the Mendi Muruks and Port Moresby Vipers. A walk for peace was also organised along with other activities. The next place Governor Parkop should consider visiting with his message is Bougainville.
Madang needs you Bryan
Madang’s acclaim as a tourist hub is being eroded (it’s probably just a major crime away from being in tatters) and following Saturday’s latest incident which resulted in the death of a man during an armed hold up something drastic needs to be done. Local MP Bryan Kramer, who just happens to be Police Minister, should be able to come up with something, right?
Domino effect
We wonder what has become of the demand for compensation a group of landowners from Goroka said they would present Prime Minister James Marape during his visit there over the weekend. This group shut off the town’s water supply in protest after hearing that the state had paid money to Koiari landowners in Central, who had shut down water to Port Moresby. Let’s hope sanity prevails and other groups around the country do not hold innocent people to ransom with similar actions. Anyone familiar with the domino effect?
