Wrong casket
Relatives gathered at the Jackson Airport in Port Moresby recently to mourn over the casket of their loved one. The relatives unleashed the usual wailing and sobbing that is accustomed to such a gathering. But their cries were short-lived when an elder advised that they had mourned over the wrong casket. Oops.
No vision
Father and daughter were conversing about New Year’s resolutions. He asked the 18-year-old what her vision was for this year. Her response; “I don’t know dad, I don’t have 2020 vision.”
Casual promises
We’re already six days into 2020 and some folks are well into their new year’s resolution. For those still sitting on the fence for a resolution for this year, perhaps consider the term “casual promises.” This means that you are under no legal obligation to fulfil your promise.
Leap year
And yes, this year is a Leap Year. For those celebrating their birthday on Feb 29 a leap day, you deserve the red-carpet treatment. After all, you have another four years before eat your birthday cake again.
PNG faith
Faith according to the Bible is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The tok pisin version would be; “You kisim pinis toktok lo narapala sumting.”
On a diet
A colleague on holiday in the land down-under was asked by a curious female Aussie larrikin if they still ate people in PNG. He smiled and told her he was on a diet.
False prophets
While on Australia, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the devastating bush fires. Unfortunately, a few self-made prophets in PNG have taken to social media to give their explanation about the cause of the fires – some even citing religious beliefs. Please, just stop this nonsense.
Wrong prepaid
A female colleague purchased a prepaid voucher for her new mobile phone. She spent the whole night trying to top up her phone credits but to no avail. She later discovered that she had bought a prepaid voucher for a different mobile operator. She was last seen looking for someone to swap the voucher with.
