Getting hitched
The year is kicking off with “royal” nupitals. PNG is kicking it off sooner than you think – strengthening our relationship with a fellow Commonwealth nation in the Pacific. Later this year, the British will watch Princess Beatrice getting hitched to Italian property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. For starters.
What a PM
Oh, how some would love to have Sanna Marin as their prime minister right now. The recently-elected head of government in Finland, also the world’s youngest sitting prime minister, is proposing a four-day workweek or six-hour work day. She wants people to spend more time with their families. What a PM.
Missing items
Colleague recently noticed missing from some major supermarket shelves products from a neighbouring Melanesian country, mainly water and biscuits. It cannot be another trade row between the two nations.
True friend
We offered 1,000 soldiers to Australia but are sending 100 only, mostly from the Engineering Battalion. At least we are proving to Australians that “a friend in need is a friend indeed”.
Free bus
More than a year after Apec leaders left our shores, Port Moresby residents are still waiting for the free bus service promised to them. No fuel perhaps?
Use-by date
Talking of Apec, someone should remove this sign outside the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby. It is well past its use-by date.
Thought for the day
A satisfied life is better than a successful life because our success is measured by others, but our satisfaction is measured by our own soul, mind and heart.
