Reader wants to know why the ban on plastics to be effective from Feb 1 covers shopping bags only, and not soft drink bottles and snack wrappers which litter our environment most. He hopes Minister Wera Mori can explain.

Rude gaffe
Facebook has apologised for translating Chinese President Xi Jinping’s name from Burmese to English, resulting in an obscenity on its platform. It came to light on the second day of Xi’s state visit to Myanmar. His name was translated erroneously to appear as “Mr Sh..hole”. Don’t expect any aid then.
Colour blind
A blind man filed for divorce recently at the Travis County Courthouse in the US, claiming that his wife hid from him for 32 years the fact that she was African American. John Paul Davis, 59, accused his wife Latoyah Johnson, 56, of taking advantage of his handicap to “dishonestly and fraudulently make him believe that she was Caucasian”. She denies the claim.
