Some noises
Some rumblings have recently been heard in the corridors of power with the big boss not happy with at least two of his lieutenants. There may be some reshuffling on the card, we hear. Stay tuned.
Fare hike
It may have something to do with the coronavirus scare but at least one airline has increased fares from Port Moresby to Hong Kong overnight from K2,500 to K6,000 one way. Oh well, wise to discourage travelling at this time.
Loan sharks
Loan sharks make good business at this time of the year when some parents are struggling to pay fees and buy stationery for their children. The interest rate can be as 100 per cent – on the condition it is paid within a fortnight. Defaulters are then charged 200 per cent.
No stopping
Drivers speeding along the Magi Highway ignore the crossing near the Erima roundabout because it is not properly marked. Students from the nearby primary school use it to reach the bus stop.
Mind your tongue
Police in Detroit, Michigan have charged Youlette Wedgeworth, 52, with assault after she bit the tongue of a man she was kissing on Jan 28. She had repeatedly warned him not to put his tongue in her mouth. Police later found the man bleeding from his mouth and missing about an inch of his tongue.
Thought for today
To be happy you must let go of what’s gone, be grateful for what remains, and look forward to what is coming next.
