Bad engineering
Lady sitting near the door of a bus travelling through Gordon in Port Moresby saw the flooded section of Waigani Drive near the Hohola tunnel and exclaimed loudly: “Bad engineering!” Everyone stared at her.
Waitangi day
We joined our friends in New Zealand in celebrating the important annual Waitangi Day this week. In addition, thank you NZ, in particular the Beehive in Wellington, for the evacuation of our 17 students from Wuhan city.
Special Days
So many Days marked on colleague’s calendar this week. But today, Friday, has the biggest circle around it: Pay Day. Yes.
Valentine’s Day
One reader took offence to an item yesterday about Valentine’s Day to be celebrated only by couples between 17 and 25, and everyone older to wait for Mother’s and Father’s Day. “Love has got nothing to do with age.” Point taken.
Plastic bags
The plastic shopping bags have reappeared in shops. They have been a few mpre weeks to clear out their stock before the ban comes into effect middle of next month, assuming it is not postponed again.
Not funny
Two hours into the flight, passenger James Potok yelled out to the 243 passengers on board the WestJet Flight 2702 from Toronto to Montego Bay in Jamaica on Wednesday that he was not feeling well after recently visiting Wuhan City. Pilots immediately returned to Toronto. He was arrested after apologizing that it was just a prank. Not funny.
Thought for today
The pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. The realist adjusts the sail.
