Breathalyser on campus
Students attending the Divine Word University in Madang may undertake breathalyser tests at the gate – as part of safety and security measure on campus. Everyone knows that homebrew and other “illegal” stuff are easily available at the nearby Gavstoa settlement.
PM’s trip
Prime Minister James Marape is travelling to New Zealand on his State visit, via Fiji, on the Falcon aircraft “chartered” from Air Niugini. On his next visit to the Solomon Islands, he and a delegation of government officials and business representatives will travel on a normal Air Niugini flight, he says.
Which way
On Tuesday in Parliament, an Opposition MP says they are taking “PNG forward”, in contrast to the Government slogan of taking back PNG. It may end up in a tug-of-war.
Love thy neighbour
Colleague now understands why his friend always sits next to the prettiest girls in church on Sundays. It is because the preacher often tells the congregation in the middle of a sermon: “Hug the person next to you!”
Same name
It can be embarrassing for people with the same names. Someone will get your email address or phone number and start chatting away, not realising that he is talking to the wrong person.
Royal divorce
Missy Kwin is saddened to see two divorce cases rocking the royal family. Two weeks ago, it was Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips announcing he was divorcing wife Autumn. This week, David Linley, son of her sister Princess Margaret, announced that he divorcing wife Serena. None compares however to that famous one between her eldest son Charles and wife Princess Diana in 1996. Woe to The Firm.
Below the belt
A soccer player in France has been suspended for five years for biting an opponent “below the belt” during a match last November. The victim required about 10 stitches to his private part, and had to take four days off work.
