Tell me it’s true
Really? A reader sent the picture of this signboard on a roadside somewhere in Port Moresby. Just too good to be true, don’t you think?
No pay
We hear on the grapevine that staff of a media organisation have not been paid for at least two weeks. No reason given. Many have children attending schools.
New tactic
People who travel by bus may have noticed that the “crew” no longer sit on the coins they collect from passengers. They usually sit on the first seat next to the door. They now instead keep them in their pockets. Change in tactic maybe.
Costly oil
Oil prices have tumbled nearly 3 per cent towards a one-week low on Monday as the rapid spread of the coronavirus in several countries outside China left investors fretting about a hit to demand. Hopefully it does not affect our shiploads of LNG.
In-laws
We all know that some men do not see eye-to-eye on issues with their mothers-in-law. The wife often steps in to be the mediator. One man is facing court for allegedly posting defamatory stuff about his mum-in-law on social media.
Many wives
Some women in Kenya have thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta for signing into law a controversial marriage bill legalising polygamy. Women have been complaining for some time that there are not enough men around to impregnate them. They see this as a solution.
Thought for today
Before you speak, make sure your tongue is connected to your brain. Many people are well educated but not totally mannered.
