Column 1

Copying you
From reader ES via email: “Have you noticed the ‘new’ drum column in the Post Courier? They have copied The National’s Column One. Previously their drum column ran across the (top of) the page. This time it runs down the page. Imitators?”
Same birthday
Colleagues live near each other in Port Moresby, share a beer every now and then, travel in the same transport to work, but did not realise until yesterday that they also share the same birthday – Sept 9. And they claim to be working in the communication business. Mind-boggling.
Thrown out
It seems ironic that a stone’s throw away across the road from the K16 million market at Gordon in Port Moresby funded by our Kiwi friends in 2018 are vendors sitting under makeshift shelters beside a big drain selling food and other items. And the market still has empty stalls.
Power bill
City Hall must be spending a fortune on electricity at the Gordon market with lights turned on 24/7. Such wealth.
Torn shoes
Do not make fun of someone with torn shoes, ragged clothes because you do not know how tough the road they have come or are going through. If you cannot help them, just shut up and mind your own business.
New players
Melbourne Storm fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen and Panthers hooker Api Koroisau are tipped to be included in the Blues squad for the State of Origin series in November. The Maroons are likely to call up Tino Fa’asuamaleaui, Pat Carrigan and Lindsay Collins.
Food for thought
The signs of maturity: You forgive more, respect differences, accept heartaches, you don’t judge easily, you are not excited by small talk, you become more open-minded.
