Last chance
Because of the closure of the bookmakers from Sunday to Tuesday, punters in Port Moresby had their final chance on Saturday to place their bets on the annual Melbourne Cup race tomorrow. So close.
So much
So much sports to take in this week: Tomorrow is the Melbourne Cup horse race, then the State of Origin One on Wednesday, and on Saturday the Bledisloe Cup whitewash of the Wallabies by the All Blacks. And the US gets to elect a President on Tuesday too. Busy, busy.
Taking a lead
Not only did he complete the 18 holes over six hours walking in the hot Friday sun, PM James Marape also put K5,000 at the bar for the thirsty souls who took part with him in the 2020 PM Golf Challenge at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club. For obvious reasons, the K5,000 did not last long.
Dad pranked
Boy pranks Dad by removing the letters W and O from the door to women’s toilet. Dad ran out when he realised he was in the wrong place in his underpants.
Misspelt words
It can be embarrassing when you mistakenly leave a letter out of certain words you are writing such as public and count. Subeditors pick a lot of them in copies in newsrooms.
Food for thought
You cannot see your reflection in boiling water. Likewise, you cannot see the truth in a state of anger. When the water calms, clarity comes.
