Fluid situation
Tactical considerations can change rapidly given the fluidity of the political situation in PNG. MPs, especially the political party leaders, must remain on alert.
Budget cover
The 2021 Budget Book cover page still has Charles Abel as the Treasurer. Maybe someone was rushing to put the budget documents together for tabling in Parliament on Tuesday morning and forgot to make the changes.
Wrong name
Also on the budget documents, Richard Maru remains the Minister for National Planning and Monitoring. He left many moons ago. It should be Sam Basil. One hopes the figures in the budget were not wrong too.
Grace period
Parliament was adjourned to April 2021 because it will then be 18 months from the next general election. The Government will be allowed to rule unchallenged until the general election. Good planning.
No fun
The Covid-19 may stop Santa Claus and his sleigh from travelling this year, unless maybe if he wears a mask. And it’s pretty quiet and somber out there. Usually around this time, there will be Xmas music and sales promotions in shops.
Clear view
Colleague travelling in a bus to Port Moresby had a clear view of the road rushing beneath him through two gaping holes on the floor. Over to you Road Transport.
Thursday No 26.
Thought for today
Rise above the dark clouds if you want to find sunshine.
