Road block
Someone felled this palm tree many moons ago and left its trunk lying across a footpath right next to the Sir Manasupe Haus in Waigani. Pedestrians including civil servants walk around it every day. No one, not even the city authority, is willing to have it removed. Is everyone waiting for a big “Noah-like” flood to sweep it away?
Welcome rain
Oh it’s so soothing and cool to see it raining in the capital city after months of dry and hot weather.
Hidden levies
There are new levies buried in the national budget which will become effective next year. Hopefully they will not affect consumers too much. But be warned PNG!
Small claims
PNG should have a Small Claims Tribunal where minor complaints can be dealt with instead of taking everything up to the courts. For example, your mate still refusing to pay back the K1,000 he borrowed last year.
Xmas songs
Nice to hear Xmas carols now being played in major supermarkets. Remind us that the festive season is here. The supermarkets are also expecting us to spend as much as we can on Xmas gifts and decorations.
Power misery
We all hope Mister Bekker is quickly settling down and will end soon the suffering we have been subjected to for years as electricity consumers.
Thought today
Help is a very expensive gift. So do not expect it from everyone as only a few are “rich” in the heart. The others only talk.
Top quote
“Every MP is entitled to freedom of opinion, choices and political career. In the past few weeks, some chose to leave government. I would like to appeal to all our citizens to respect MPs and don’t criticise them as they are exercising their free will.” – Prime Minister James Marape.
