Now we know
So the lack of cash at the ATMs was due in part to, well, the lack of new bank notes. The Bank of PNG has just fixed that by releasing new bank notes to the commercial banks. So watch the new notes flow out of the ATM. Lucky you.
K5 crew
In Lae, bus drivers pay K5 to men at bus stops to usher people into their buses instead of others. 23 of the men appeared in court yesterday for having no “bus crew permit”. Nothing is free.
No to new
It seems some police officers hate new expensive vehicles provided and will involve them in road accidents so that they are written off and taken off the road. What a waste.
Baby bust
A report recently released by three US university professors says there will be fewer babies born in 2021 because of “months of economic hardship, public health panic, and tenuous confidence in the future”. They call it the pandemic-driven baby-bust. So dispiriting.
Shock question
Master Five shocked Dad with the question every parent dreads: “Where do babies come from, Dad?” He could only splutter out: “From everywhere man, they are all around the globe.” Such a coward!
