Time to go
Cameron Smith announced his retirement from rugby league at all levels just as the Melbourne Storm, the team he had been captaining for years, prepares to kick-off the 2021 season against the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Perfect timing.
Vaccines please
Professor Glen Mola warns PNG to immediately get 684,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to ease the burden on urban clinics as cases spike. But the earliest we can get some – only 270,000 – is next month. Not good enough!
State of emergency
We are only days away from March 22 when a year ago a national Covid-19 state of emergency was declared in PNG. We have not forgotten what we went through. And sadly, we are facing a similar situation right now. God forbid!
Limit of 50
The 12 new Covid-19 measures announced by National Pandemic Response Controller David Manning yesterday includes limiting gatherings to 50 people. Maybe hard to enforce during the haus krai.
Flat tire
Remember, a bad attitude is like a flat tire. You cannot go anywhere unless you change it.
Chased away
People who have been sleeping on a footpath near the Hohola tunnel along the freeway in Port Moresby are no longer there. The recent heavy downpour must have chased them away.
Thought for today
No one is going to stand up at your funeral and say: “She really had a really expensive couch and beautiful shoes!” So stop making life about stuff.
Top quote
“We will build a monument and a national remembrance, sort of memorial here in Port Moresby. Visitors to the country will be welcomed by a big bronze statue of the Grand Chief (Sir Michael Somare), the nation’s founding father.” – Prime Minister James Marape
