World population
THE United Nations Population Fund predicts that the world’s population will reach eight billion on November 15 this year. So PNG, with around 10 million people, has around .00125 per cent of the world population. Not bad, don’t you think?
Early start
Some candidates are still campaigning on social media, even when polling in their electorates ended days ago. Maybe they do not rate their chances highly this time around, and are starting their run early for 2027.
No checks
So some voters in the Moresby North-East electorate were allowed to vote without their names being checked on the common roll. The reason? The election officials arrived very late and were trying to play catch-up, and get as many as possible to vote before closing time.
Covid-19 vaccine
Australia, our neighbor across the pond, is starting its fourth round of the Covid-19 vaccination – but this time only for those above the age of 30. PNG is lagging a zillion years behind on the Covid-19 vaccination front, it seems. No one cares.
Not family
Always be wary of those who come to you disguised as family. Regard them as poisonous.
Thought for today
Be happy with the little that you have. There are people who have nothing compared to you, but still manage to smile.
Top quote
“One of the first things I have voiced, as well as others, is that as soon as the new government is formed, the first task should be to review the electoral process and ensure that all issues are addressed appropriately so that there is no repeat of these mistakes.” – Acting Prime Minister John Rosso.
