Odd name
There is a Serious Crime and Dishonesty Unit in the Public Prosecution Office. Dishonesty? For want of a better word? Should dishonesty come under crime? Someone please explain.
Five’s enough
Our journalists and photographer turned up at Gordon Secondary School on Friday after being invited to cover a cultural show. But they were turned away by armed security guards. They said five other journalists had already arrived “so we don’t need any more”.
Broncos’ fallout
The fallout from the Broncos 58-0 walloping at the hands of the Eels on Saturday is still reverberating inside the Bankwest Stadium in Sydney. Inevitably furious fans are calling for some heads to roll to at least bring some closure to the impact of that record-breaking monumental defeat. Just unacceptable.
Prison feast
The inmates at Baisu Prison in Western Highlands had a feast to celebrate the 44th independence anniversary thanks to the kindness of a priest. Father Robert Nolie gave two pigs and a goat to the prison to be shared by the inmates on the national holiday. He is the prison’s chaplain.
Dad killed
We have always been reminded to celebrate responsibly during national or family events. A dad who was sleeping on the side of a road after the independence anniversary celebrations died when he was hit by a vehicle. Sad.
