Olam’s fans
People in the highlands will go to any length to watch Chimbu native Justin Olam play for the Melbourne Storm. You can bet that his family and fans will again be watching at their outdoor lounge the NRL semifinal match between the Storm and the Sydney Roosters this weekend. If the Storm win, Olam will be into his first NRL grand final. One can only imagine the loud cheering piercing the jungles in the highlands on that night.

Have to go

There are two big drains nearby but City Hall should have thought about providing temporary toilets for the hundreds of people milling around the temporary bus stop at Unagi Oval in Port Moresby every day. When nature calls, one just has to go. The drains are already flooded.
Easy escape
The four inmates who escaped from Bomana Prison during the Independence Day celebrations had been allowed to wear PNG colours like everyone else. They mingled with the crowd then walked out unnoticed. It was made so easy for them.
Budget interest
All eyes will be on Treasurer Ian ling Stuckey when he tables the Supplementary Budget at next month’s House sitting. The cuts into development project funding for districts and provinces is the main topic for debate.
Together at last
Baby Logan, born half the size of his three sisters at 1lb 3oz, has been released from hospital in time to celebrate their first birthday. The quadruplets were born to Melisa Patino and Jonathon Besley last year. The three girls were okay but Logan has been been in and out of hospital for much of his first year. Mum Patino said: “It’s wonderful to have all the babies home at last.”
