Back to Canberra
WHAT an achievement it would be for coach Ricky Stuart if his Canberra Raiders beat the Sydney Roosters in the NRL final on Sunday. Canberra will again revel in the glory days when he, Mal Meninga and Laurey Dailey donned that green jersey decades ago.
Last hurrah
RUGBY league legends Cameron Smith and Cooper Cronk may have played their final game against each other last Saturday during the NRL preliminary semifinal in Sydney. Both are expected to announce their retirement soon. They had played together for the Melbourne Storm before Cronk moved to the Roosters a few years ago. They will be surely be missed by all.
Free tickets
THE NRL had to give away thousands of free tickets for the Storm-Roosters blockbuster at the ANZ Stadium in Sydney because of the anticipated small crowd. In contrast, the Canberra’s GIP Stadium the previous night was sold out when the Raiders met the Rabbitohs.
Not your job
SECURITY guard at a major supermarket in Port Moresby almost got knocked over when he tried to stop traffic on the highway to give way to cars coming out of the customer car park. It’s not his job.
Today’s thought
NO matter how big your house is, how recent your car is, or how big your bank account is, our graves will always be the same size.
