Next Xmas
We are still 70 days away from Christmas but the messages of Yuletide and the pyramid-shaped trees depicting that special event in Bethlehem more than 2000 years ago are already about. Special shopping promotions and travel packages are congesting the airwaves. Some pockets and bank accounts are still recovering from last year’s Xmas. Mercy!
See me
A woman appeared in a Port Moresby court yesterday accused of uploading nude pictures of herself and sending them to another person through her social media account. Nothing is private anymore.
Phone escape
You will find your mobile phone to be your best friend when you are in a room full of people waiting to be called for the same job interview. The situation can be really awkward because everyone realises only one in that room will be selected. So you and everyone else turn to your phones as an “escape”.
Weird liaison
Wallabies coach Michael Cheika is angry because Canberra Warriors coach Ricky Stewart has been hanging around with England coach Eddie Jones on the eve of the World Cup quarterfinal match between the two nations. Cheika says “it’s weird”.
Popular Japanese
It is said that Japan’s World Cup rugby team captain Michael Leitch is more popular in the land of the rising sun than Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Leitch’s statue has been erected in the middle of public park in Tokyo. His mum Eva (from Ra in Fiji) was pictured beside it this week. Sumo seems to have been relegated in that land.
Thought for today
A great relationship is about two things: First appreciating the similarities and second, respecting the differences.
