Lion tamers
It may be the king of the beasts but a lion can also be tamed. It has been proved many times. Now is your turn Kumuls. We can always apologise to Missy Kwin later.
Gender unsure
A rugby league fan last week was trying to register information about himself on the internet to purchase a ticket for the Kumuls match last Saturday against the Fiji Bati. He had to tick one of the three boxes in the gender section: Male, Female, Unspecified. What?
Pub brawl
Rugby league star David Fifita quickly leapt to the defence of Nelson Asofa-Solomona when the latter was accused of punching someone in Bali who had assaulted Melbourne Storm teammate Suli Vunivalu. Now Fifita is finding himself in a similar predicament in Bali. And everyone seems to be keeping an arm’s length away.
Bring your own
You need to bring your own shopping bags when going to tucker shops. They no longer have plastic bags because of the ban.
Out of sight
A reader agrees with a recent item in this column about the amount of plastic bottles dumped into drains which are carried out to sea causing untold damage to the environment. Environment authorities and the plastic bottle-makers are keeping silent. Out of sight, out of mind it is.
Pacific’s richest
The list of the 10 richest countries in Oceania (Gross Domestic Product per capita), has Australia and New Zealand at the top followed by small island nations Palau, Marshall Islands, Tonga, Micronesia FS, Kiribati, Samoa, Nauru and Fiji. But PNG will beat all one day.
Too deer!
The reindeer is still 40-plus days away but Yuletide looks to be getting more expensive each year. One quick glance through the shops on the prices of decorations and gifts gets you deflated quickly. Colleague wonders if it worth celebrating this important date on the Christian calendar this here.
Today’s thought
Do good and good will come today.
