CAN the Electoral Commission tell us when fresh elections will be held for the Kairuku-Hiri open seat in Central and South Fly in Western after the respective elected MPs’ win were voided in the court of disputed returns? And the same question will also go for the Angoram electorate in East Sepik following the passing of its member Ludwig Schulze.

TELIKOM PNG has announced that it will be reducing internet charges this month. Any indication on when exactly this will happen?

INTERESTING to note that there is a travel ban on Air Niugini’s managers to keep them on the ground so they can work on improving its domestic services. This came about after they were told by the prime minister to improve its domestic services during the opening of its corporate charter terminal.

COMMENDATION to the Sepik Ironman triathlon competition committee for the donation of a film processor (valued at K98,000) to Boram General Hospital. Funds were from the 2012 event. This year’s event will see the competition celebrate 10 years and organisers are calling on Sepiks in PNG and aboard to support them in their drive to support health and education in the province.

WE hear so much of our politicians living in hotel suites and wonder if they can do what Pope Francis has done. He has decided not to move into the papal apartment used by Benedict XVI and others before him, preferring instead to stay in a simple suite at a Vatican hotel. The papal apartment on the top floor of the Apostolic Palace is ready for the new pontiff to move into. However, he has decided to stay at the Casa Santa Marta, the residence where he has been staying since the papal election two weeks ago, for the time being.

A British woman filmed getting undressed by her GP with a hidden camera in his James Bond-style wristwatch has spoken of her despair. The patient, who cannot be named for legal reasons, says she feels “violated” and has “lost all faith in the NHS (National Health Service)” after she fell victim to Dr Davinderjit Bains. Bains filmed the attacks on his Tieex 4GB Waterproof HD Spy Watch DVR, which has been likened to something out of a 007 film. It has a built-in camera on the face – with simple on and off buttons to record – and can be bought on the internet for less than £60 (K915).
