HEADS should start rolling in the Education Department for their laxity in furnishing to the government accurate information on schools, teachers and students. And to think that the survey task force was given a K10 million funding to undertake it is a joke. Why should students be deprived of their rights to education when some schools send them home because they have no money to keep the school operational?

HOPE the road contract at 5-Mile has clauses to protect the taxpayers in terms of penalties for the delay. It would be interesting to know how the road construction and resealing contracts were drawn up. Would there be warranty if something goes wrong with the road in a matter of months or years? Is the contractor liable to repair it free of charge? If so, how long is that warranty period and is it justifiable given the amounts of taxpayers repeatedly being spent on the same roads?

WE hear a curfew from 11pm to 5am has been

imposed at Hisiu village and villages west of it in the Kairuku area of Central province. Police

activities have built up for the last couple of days after rumours of the escapees being sighted at Oroi village west of Hisiu. The curfew and increased police presence have barred people from their normal gardening, fishing and hunting activities. The

villagers say they have no connection with the escapees. Should there be negative impact, who will meet the costs?

IT’S either Port Moresby needs more fuel stations or the number of cars in Port Moresby is increasing at a very fast rate. Maybe if the attendants at the station served with some customer aptitude, it would help reduce the queues.

AND that brings us to suggesting a new name for Port Moresby. They say Singapore is a “fine” city because of the many different penalties for various infringements. Port Moresby should now be a “City of Queues”.

A notice by the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Service Authority management pinned up at the passport lodgment office says “No chewing of buai and smoking within this office”. Then out comes a female staff, walks past the counter, and in full view of the waiting customers has in the palm of her hand, the prohibited nut.
