SO, who do we blame when we say that there has been little or no development all across PNG over the last 40 years of independence, the People, the Government or both? Ask yourself whether there is something you might do that will in one way or another contribute towards the growth of this nation, our country, or better still whether you are doing enough right now.

PAY attention to the scene in front of you when you hear the siren from a fire truck responding to an emergency. You will notice that it will be blocked off and is not able to get through the traffic with ease. Vehicles simply just will not move aside to let the emergency service through.

EVEN when the green lights came on, instead of giving way everyone will be racing with the fire truck to get past the green light. One wonders, did all these drivers get their driver’s license in the proper process? No wonder PNG is still going backwards with every step forward

THE axis mundi, or world axis, is a symbolic representation of the point of connection between heaven and earth and offers a means of travel and communication between the two realms. The concept of a central world axis appears in many cultures and takes many forms, both natural and man-made.

This connection point can be a high mountain, a plant, an altar, or even a person’s home.

THE May Fourth Movement was the first mass movement in modern Chinese history. It began with about 5,000 university students in Beijing protesting the Versailles Conference’s decision to transfer former German concessions in China to Japan. Demonstrations and strikes spread, and a nationwide boycott of Japanese goods followed.

On May 4, 1978, South African forces attacked a South West Africa People’s Organisation (Swapo) base located in the old Angolan mining town of Cassinga. Hundreds of Namibians died during the attack.

Namibia eventually won its political independence in 1990 and is currently ruled by the Swapo party government, and a national holiday is declared every year on the anniversary of the attack to commemorate those who died in their country’s struggle for independence.
