Commander: I will comply with directives
The National, Monday February 16th, 2015
THE man in charge of Bomana Prison says he will comply with any directive issued to him, even on the death penalty.
Prison commander Kiddy Keko said he was a Christian and believed in its principles. He told The National that as the commanding officer, he did everything possible to assist inmates live in harmony regardless of whether they were on death row.
Keko was asked about his opinion on the death penalty as a Christian and an officer who cared for all the inmates at Bomana. “Yes, I am a Christian and I am encouraging everyone both detainees and staff to observe and adhere to Christian principles. Christian principle is more about being good, honest, ethical and moral in behavioar and conduct, especially for staff. So in return, the detainee can follow us and become law-abiding citizens,” he said.
Keko said he was duty-bound to comply in any given situation.
