Commander in court for assault

 GOROKA police station commander Insp David Seine Jnr appeared before the Kokopo District Court on Tuesday to answer to charges of causing grievous bodily harm.

The court heard that Seine, 38, of Londoya village, Chuave, Chimbu, committed the offence on April 27, 2002, when he was mobile squad commander at Tomaringa.

The victim was Steven Sari from Vunabaur village in the Bitapaka district.

Seine later moved to Goroka, Eastern Highlands.

The court heard that he was brought back to Kokopo over the weekend by police officers and charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm.

His case has been adjourned to Dec 3 for the court to make a ruling on evidence presented.

He is out on bail.
