THE commission of inquiry (COI) into the Government’s Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) loan deal has been deferred due to the state of emergency (SOE), an official says.
Inquiry chairman Sir Salamo Injia said new dates for the inquiry would be announced after April 27.
“The allocation of specific dates in that week for specific matters will appear on the COI’s website,” he said.
Sir Salamo said the deferral was because of the Government’s extension of the state of emergency restrictions on public gatherings in the country due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.
The inquiry as set by the commission was to begin today.
The commission office at Muruk Haus in Waigani, Port Moresby, is open from April 14 to 27.
The commission said Sir Salamo would be available during this period to deal with any applications for directions that may be made by persons in any of the matters concerning the inquiry.

  • Get him behind bars because he made himself rich by abusing the process while you and me are suffering. If he is
an educated elite, where does Fiscal Policy comes into play in that decision to obtain that Swiz loan.

For me, he had completely abused the process of Fiscal Policy by enriching himself while the country now is feeling the effect of this blunder.
