THE Independent Consumer and Competition Commission (ICCC) has launched 24 informational, communication, and educational (ICE) materials aimed at providing detailed information about the roles and responsibilities of the ICCC to businesses and the public.
ICCC commissioner and chief executive officer Paulus Ain said the documents included 22 brochures and two posters that explained ICCC’s various roles and responsibilities.
“2021 will mark 18 years of the ICCC’s operations and these informational brochures and posters are important tools for the ICCC to explain to all its stakeholders including the Government, businesses and consumers about how the ICCC fulfils its statutory mandate,” he said. “The existing information and education materials are outdated and, therefore, required to be reviewed which resulted in these brochures.”
Ain added that producing of more informational content about the ICCC was one of the significant recommendations set out in the Government-sanctioned consumer and competition framework review.
He said this was part of the ICCC’s effort to continue to inform and educate our consumers about our exact roles and responsibilities with respect to protecting our consumers (consumer protection roles), promoting competition, ensuring effective regulation of State-owned entities and effective price regulation of declared goods and services.
