THE Teaching Service Commission (TSC) is welcoming all teachers back as the 2021 academic year starts today with the resumption of duties.
TSC chairman Samson Wangihomie also acknowledged and welcomed graduates of teacher training institutions who were entering the teaching service for the first time this year.
He called on all teachers to resume on the positions as appointed by their respective education boards promptly as non-compliance could result in their suspension from payroll for not resuming duties on time.
Wangihomie said for teachers who had applied for and won positions last year, he appealed to appointing authorities to ensure that they were appointed to the respective positions as these were gazetted.
He said any teacher who was not appointed properly by appointing authority, could appeal to the TSC only if they were displaced from their tenured position or they were more suitable for another position and could provide evidence of that suitability.
Wangihomie reminded all teachers to fill in their resumption of duty statements correctly as errors or mistakes made could be costly as teachers would not be placed on payroll.
He said teachers who were moving from one province to another needed to ensure their release letters from their province of origin was attached with their resumption forms in the new province.
Wangihomie said graduate teachers needed to ensure that they enclosed their grade 10 and 12 certificates, teaching certificates and provisional registration certificates with their resumption forms and other related documents in order to be placed on payroll without delay. He called on teachers to be committed to their teaching.
