Committee initiates new show attraction

 THIS year’s Goroka Show will introduce new events such as the Miss Goroka Show Agriculture 2013 ball night.

Priscilla Siune, the Goroka Show executive officer, said the new committee elected under the directive of Eastern Highlands Governor Julie Soso aimed to make the show bigger and better with new attractions.

The ball night, sponsored by the Coffee Industry Corporation, will be held  on Saturday at the Haven Resort in Goroka from 7pm to 10pm.

There are seven contestants for the Miss Goroka Show Agriculture Queen title and they are:

  • Mary-Anne Hanamo, 23, is a teacher at the Faniufa Primary School and hails from Rabaul, East New Britain and Goroka, Eastern Highlands. She was crowned Miss Bilum Queen last year. 

She is sponsored by New Guinea Fruit Company. 

  • Fredda Danggun, 26, a self-sponsored contestant, is from Manus and Madang.

She has completed a degree in Goroka and is currently unemployed and a model for the Bilum Festival.

  • Christine Amos, 23, from Morobe and Central is employed with the Riback Stevedores in Lae under the Ahi Hope Foundation Sector. 

She was Miss Ahi Queen from 2010 -2012 in Morobe and is sponsored by Namalu Coffee.

  • Tracy Yassi, 24, is from Lufa in Eastern Highlands and is self-sponsored. 

She is the marketing officer for Alekano Savings and Loans and completed training at the Institute of Business Studies.

  • Sarah Michael Sinai, 22, is a student at the Goroka Business College. She is from Kerowagi, Chimbu and is sponsored by Arabicas Coffee Ltd.
  • Mary Michael, 19, is from Seigu in Goroka, Eastern Highlands. She is employed by Haven Resort who also sponsored her.
  • Laufa Feeney, 15, is from Lufa in Eastern Highlands and Scotland. She is a cashier at Office Works Stationery.
