THE issue over the location of the Jiwaka provincial headquarters will end up in court if the provincial executive council (PEC) does not rescind its decision within 21 days, a petition organiser says.
Chairman of the petition organising committee Simon Hans, presenting the petition to PEC members to rescind its decision on the location on Friday, said: “The process of establishing the headquarters did not have any conformation from the land title commission, the tenders board and the office of physical planning.”
Hans with his committee members, including business people, politicians and community leaders presented the petition to the PEC members at Minj.
PEC members are led by Nondugl local level government president Opai Kunagil and Kol local level government president Jack Nimbil.
Kunagil and Nimbil received the petition in the absence of Governor Dr William Tongamp and promised to present it to PEC.
Hans said in the petition that it contained several points on which PEC members must act upon.
A copy of the petition has been sent to the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and Deputy Prime Minister Leo Dion.
It will be delivered to other ministers, MPs and departments.
