Committee still searching for venue

THE organising committee for the National Mask and Warwagira festival in East New Britain is looking for a permanent venue to stage the cultural event.
Responding to suggestions on whether the festivals should be rotated and staged in other three districts, chairman Isaac Ilom said that was possible.
Ilom told The National in Kokopo that the committee was temporarily using the Ralum Showground to host the events every year.
“When a permanent venue is confirmed then infrastructure can be improved to make it more conducive for both international tourists and locals and also to make it more attractive for more international tourists to attend in future,” he said.
Ilom also expressed gratitude to educational institutions engaged to provide non-ENB cultural performances as well as sponsorship from business houses.
He said the ENB government and its administration, and the tourism ministry through the PNG Tourism Authority also assisted and supported the organising committee to host the events.
