A special Parliamentary Committee on public sector performance service delivery was established yesterday in Parliament.
The notice without motion was moved by leader of Government business and Minister for Communications and Energy Rainbo Paita.
Paita said that the committee would be chaired by Northern Governor Gary Juffa and North Bougainville MP William Nakin as deputy chairman.
“The members of the committee are Southern Highlands Governor William Powi, Hela Governor Philip Undialu, Central Governor Robert Agarobe, Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas, Eastern Highlands Governor Peter Numu and Ijivitari MP Richard Masere. The committee shall have responsibilities for matters relating to public sector and the public service, deliberate on matters referred to the committee and shall investigate and report to Parliament on matters that the committee finds appropriate,” he said.
“The committee has the power to send for and examine persons, papers and records.”
Paita said committee members could research, survey and engage public service for enhancement review of the public service and make findings for recommendation to the minister responsible for public service, the National Executive Committee and Parliament.
