A COMMUNITY-based organisation has partnered with the Family Farm Team Training programme to teach agricultural skills to people in Porgera, Enga.
Restoring Justice Initiative Association manager Pat Niuni said the programme was structured to provide heads of families workshops and activities to plan their agriculture activities.
The association held a training session with Pacific Women in Porgera.
Pacific Women project officer Freda Wantum said the training last September targeted mostly youths who had the potential to develop their communities.
The training is part of the Family Farm Team programme of the Pacific Women in the mining project.
Pacific Women is an Australian Aid initiative which provides Pacific women with political, social, and economic opportunities.
The training helps members of the family realise their responsibility, encourage the family to work together as team to develop their farms and achieve goals, provide food and manage the family finance. Church leader Gili Lewi thanked the trainers and everyone involved for the course.
“I’ve never participated in such training before,” he said.
“I am happy that this coursehas been introduced to young people.”
