Community to get children’s library
The National, Monday March 31st, 2014
BUK Bilong Pikinini and World Vision will build a library for the Ranuguri Segani community.
Buk Bilong Pikinini aims to foster a love of reading and learning in children, raise their aspirations and increase literacy rates in the country.
Project coordinator Mary Amua said the community was getting the land ready for the library.
“We very much looking forward to working with the Ranuguri Segani community to provide valuable learning opportunities,” she said.
Buk bilong Pikinini, in partnership with World Vision, will establish four children’s libraries in Port Moresby Settlements.
The first library built in 2013 at Evedahana Primary School.
The second library is under construction at ATS, Oro Community, at 8-Mile.
The choice of location was based on a research carried out by World Vision and Buk bilong Pikinini to determine the communities which badly needed a library service.
Buk bilong Pikinini and World Vision expect the ATS library to be ready in May and the Ranuguri Segani Library later this year.
