THE Mendi Rugby Football Union’s 7s and 15s competition enters its fourth and second rounds respectively this weekend.

The 7s is an under-19s competition while the 15s are full-on A-grade.

Match official Tommy Kange said the U19s had been an interesting affair as all the Mendi development squad members were taking part for their respective teams.

“As for the A Grade 15s, due to time constraints last weekend we weren’t able to run their game so they have been scheduled for during the week” he said.

He said selections would be held to finalise a team to take part in the Nokondi 7s later this month.

Meanwhile, Mendi’s ‘PiURugby4School’ programme is also kicking off this month at Kumin Primary School.

The programme will run for 10 weeks and its conclusion will coincide with the 15s grand final during the Independence weekend.

Mendi RFU president Robin Asok said letters had been sent to the provincial education department, the school and parents seeking their approval and support. The programme is for both males and females.
