A COMPANY managing director has funded the renovation of classrooms at a local school and stressed the need to support education.
Tropicana Ltd managing director Sandra Lau told the people at Ratongor in the Gazelle district of East New Britain to take ownership of renovated classrooms which were important to their children’s education.
Lau said teachers must be faithful to their vocations and children must be well looked after for a better future.
She said everyone must take responsibility for the school and strive to maintain a conducive learning environment.
Ratongor Primary School board chairman Marcello Tangilua said economic constraints were affecting people at the ward level. He thanked Lau for her financial assistance towards the school and urged parents to send their children to school.
Rabaul Archbishop Francisco Panfilo also challenged the parishioners to attend church services and pray daily.
He urged parents to set the foundation for a Christian family life by providing leadership in their homes as they were the first teachers to children.
He also called on the people of Ratongor to unite and maintain peace in the community and to forgive each other.
