PARADISE Foods Ltd has cut down production to a one-day shift even though it is getting more orders.
Chief executive officer James Rice said the company still had inventory to supply.
“We have cut production to a one-day shift when we normally run 24 hours,” he said.
“We are trying to keep as many people at home as possible, but remain in production of our core food items.
“Orders have increased as stores are trying to replenish their stock, but we have inventory to supply everyone.
“Those customers are ordering slightly more than they forecast to us at the beginning of the month,
“We continue to ship across the whole country.
“At this moment, our trucks cannot access the highlands up the Highlands Highway and we cannot deliver to Central.
“Otherwise, we can supply the whole country as normal.
“Shipping to the New Guinea Islands remains normal and so does distribution in cities like Port Moresby and Lae.”
Paradise Foods Ltd has been operating in PNG for over 80 years with manufacturing sites in Port Moresby and Lae.
It produces biscuits, snacks, beverages and chocolates.
Laga Industries Ltd owns and manufactures ice cream, beverages, cooking oil and baking products with a manufacturing and processing facility in Lae along with a distribution centre in Port Moresby.
