A COMPANY formed by two men from Chimbu received its certificate and training number from the National Training Council last week.
Director and training manager Yani Guruma and assistant Peter Agua started a safety compliance training and consultancy services on safety management for workers.
Guruma had worked for Ok Tedi for the past 30 years. “Basically, we train people on how to use safety devices at work such as how to apply first-aid,” he said.
“Some of the training we provide are safety inductions, working at heights, how to develop fire management systems, how to conduct fire audit and others.
“Safety management system is needed by the workforce especially in the oil, gas and minerals industries.”
They started the company in East Sepik in 2018 and have moved to Port Moresby. “The safety of our people is not guaranteed at all work sites and not only in the main centres but all around the country.”
