Concerns over porn

Letters

I AM confused reading in our daily paper about users having access to pornographic materials through the internet. Rape, incest, child molestation are some social issues being blamed on the internet usage.
Can an independent commission be set up to look into these claims?
Having internet access brings a wealth of knowledge if used wisely.
PNG is living in the technology era and we must be on par with the rest of the world.
What is the government’s stand on the claims of social issues through the internet?
Does it have an agent such as police, censorship or communication agents who monitor the importation or accessing such obscene materials and prosecute the culprit.
When issuing licences to telecommunication companies to operate in the country, what are the terms and conditions of their operation?
I suggest that all internet import should come through one gate way that must be monitored and allow genuine information only to be accessible.
In this way unwanted information can be blocked or filtered off.
