Conduct of firm suspicious

Letters

I WRITE to inquire about the outstanding payments owed to the people of Buso, Kui, and Maiyama villages by the Morobe Marine Resource Ltd.
It’s almost two months now and the company is yet to make payment for the beche-der-mer it collected from the people.
Some of the villagers are looking forward to getting the money to cater for school graduation, medical fees, debt repayments and for Christmas celebrations.
The way the company conducted its method of payment seemed dubious and should be investigated.
How can a company collect goods without paying people but issuing only receipts?
The villagers were told go to Lae, show their receipt and get paid.
However, those who showed up are told to wait as the money was not available, converted or transferred among other excuses being put forward by the company.
Such practices should not be tolerated as it causes inconveniences to the people.
