Conducting extra classes

PORT Moresby’s New Erima Primary School is conducting extra classes for grade eight students who are slow learners, grade seven and eight section head Theresa Karepo says.
“We are doing this to try to help such students from dropping out of the education system,” she said.
“We hope the extra classes will help them catch up when they repeat grade eight.”
Karepo said the initiative was introduced by the head teacher.
“We have fall-back plans for students who are unable to meet our criteria or standard or are below average,” she said.
“We let them stay back in the same grade and repeat.
“The extra classes in grade seven is the repeat class, but we mix them (students) together.”
