THERE is some confusion looming over the suspension of the PNG Women’s Bowls Association by the PNG Sports Federation and Olympic Committee (PNGSFOC).
Yesterday, women bowlers from the Defence Bowls club fronted up at The National seeking information on whether the suspension was meant for Geau Tau’s regime as president.
They were referring to an article in The National on Tuesday which stated that the association had been suspended for 60 days.
However, the bowlers have sought some clarification on the penalty and who it was directed to because they understand the suspension is directed to Tau and her executive who are affiliated directly to the PNGSFOC.
With the suspension in effect, Tau  and her executive have no legal authority over the office of the PNG Women’s Bowls Association as of May 25, and any persons seen to be interfering with the affairs of the association are bound illegal.
It is a relief for the bowlers throughout the country who are preparing for the national women’s pennants championships.
The event will be hosted by the Defence Bowling club in Port Moresby this weekend.
To facilitate the circumstances surrounding these problems associated with women’s bowls, a meeting is set for tomorrow between the current and suspended executives to iron out ongoing issues, resolve any differences and bring the game of bowls forward.
However, it is understood the suspended president is seeking legal action over the whole saga.
