Congratulations Marape

Letters

CONGRATULATIONS to the 8th Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, James Marape.
We hope you will serve the people of PNG to the best of your ability without fear or favour.
We acknowledge the people and Opposition MPs for putting pressure on former Prime Minister Peter O’Neil through all the media systems in the country that led to his resignation.
We also need to acknowledge the internal disharmony which caused government MPs and ministers to resign and move to the Opposition.
There were several strong phrases that were used during the one month or so of camping by the Opposition at Laguna.
There are three phrases, not in any particular order that I would like to remember and comment on our new government’s outputs include “Take back PNG”, “conscience vs. convenience” and “like-minded leaders”.
We hope that this new government will have policy in place to end the loan while designing measures to pay back the debt.
Additionally, we are of the notion that the new government will make policy to combat the systematic and systemic corruption and mismanagement in the country.
We know that this task will not be completely overnight.
The first 100 days of a new manager or leadership are very decisive and divisive in exposing to the general public what kind of a leader or manager we are having in place.
