THE Sepik soccer team did us proud in the 5th PNG Games.
It was unfortunate they could not progress fur-ther due to circumstances beyond their control.
To the coach, Derick Maira, congratulations to you and your boys for putting on a great performance and making it to the quarter-finals.
We have faith that you can walk away with the top prize in Lae in 2014.
For the MPs who backed the team with whatever support, thank you.
However, I have one request.
Can the Sepik MPs work together to get the Sepik Football Club back in the NSL competition for the 2013-14 season?
To the others who participated in the games, learn from soccer and what they are doing in running their different competitions, tournaments and working on the development of the junior and women’s teams.
Last-minute preparation must be ruled out.
In the future, codes which do not run normal competitions throughout the year must be disallowed from participating in the PNG Games.
Now that we have a synthetic track in Wewak, please make use of it and organise athletics meets regularly.
We have the talents but the provincial coordinators must initiate programmes to prepare our boys and girls for the grassroots games.
